Recently, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released their comprehensive data sheet on the stats and figures for plastic surgery procedures in 2017. On a whole, the entire plastic surgery industry saw an increase in 2017 with nearly every surgical and minimally-invasive procedure seeing increases as well. Liposuction, which is a body contouring procedure that eliminates small pockets of stubborn fat around the body, saw an increase too.

The report shows that liposuction was a top-five procedure in 2017, marking its third year as a top-five plastic surgery procedure performed in the U.S. The report also broke down how many liposuction procedures were performed and the demographics of who had the treatment. These stats include:

  • 246,354 total procedures
  • 5% increase from 2016
  • 89% were performed on women
  • 39% performed on those between the ages of 40-54
  • 31% of all procedures performed in the Pacific and Mountain West regions of U.S.

At Avalon Lipo & Aesthetics, we specialize in liposuction in nearly every area of the body to give you the toned and trim figure you desire. Led by our dual-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Reza Tirgari, we strive to provide each patient with high-quality results that make them feel great about how they look.

Liposuction works by targeting areas on the body that have stubborn pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise. The procedure is great for those who are looking to eliminate small fatty deposits on the abdomen, legs, buttocks, arms, and more. However, it’s important to note that liposuction is not intended for weight loss. Patients should already be at or near their ideal weight before considering this body contouring procedure

At our office, Dr. Tirgari believes in providing you with the best options when it comes to your cosmetic needs and goals. That’s why he uses the latest in liposuction techniques and technology to give you the safest and most pleasing results possible. We also understand that every patient is unique and has specific needs or concerns when it comes to their body. Dr. Tirgari offers three different types of liposuction to help you trim away fat which can be used all together or separately, depending on the work you wish to have.

The types of liposuction we offer at our offices include:

  • SmartLipo: This advanced technique requires no anesthesia and is less invasive than other methods, which gives you a shorter recovery period.
  • Laser liposuction: This technique uses thermal energy to melt away fat for easy removal and requires smaller incisions compared to traditional liposuction.
  • Tumescent liposuction: This technique uses tumescent anesthesia that’s injected into the target area to reduce pain and bleeding which helps aid in your recovery process.

The most important thing to determine before you decide on liposuction is your candidacy for the procedure. Dr. Tirgari will go over all qualifications with you during your comprehensive consultation to ensure that liposuction will be a safe and effective procedure for your body contouring goals. You should let him know all medications you’re currently on, your past medical history, and if you’re currently suffering from any illnesses or medical conditions. Ideal candidates should be non-smokers who are near a healthy, stable weight with realistic expectations.
