Gynecosmatia is a condition in which males have excess glands and tissue in their chest, giving the appearance of breasts. It is usually caused by an imbalance in the male and female hormones in the body. If a male produces too little testosterone and too much estrogen they can develop what's known to many as man boobs.
However, there can be other causes for excessive breast tissue in men. This condition can often start in early adolescence but usually corrects itself naturally as males get older. If it doesn't go away by the time a male reaches adulthood, there could be medical or even genetic factors at play. Some of the other common causes of gynecomastia include:
This is often a common problem area because there are a limited number of exercise routines that can be done to burn the fat on this area. A cosmetic treatment by an experienced liposuction surgeon is truly the only option if you want to achieve permanent results.
At Avalon Lipo & Aesthetics, we value the safety of each of our patients. That's why we make sure that you're a candidate for any procedure you may want. Since we use a combination of liposuction procedures for male breast reduction, we require that you meet certain qualifications to be a candidate for the procedure.
Once you are scheduled for a consultation with Dr. Tirgari, he will ask you about your medical history to learn more about any past conditions as well as your lifestyle and physical health. He will also give you an idea on how much fat can be reduced on your problem area and what results can be obtained from the procedure. Once you’ve decided to undergo male breast reduction, Dr. Tirgari will schedule you for the surgery.
Ideal candidates for male breast reduction include patients who:
Smokers and those with blood clotting problems are also not advised to undergo this procedure. It is very important to have realistic expectations. While you will obtain results right away, it is important to mention that these results will continue to improve over time. Your participation in all of our instructions and lifestyle advice is essential in achieving success.
Given his education and special training, Dr. Tirgari can perform tumescent liposuction on the chest. With this technique, you are given local anesthesia instead of the general anesthesia used in traditional liposuction. You will also be given a sedative to make you relaxed and slightly sedated while the procedure is being performed.
Next, Dr. Tirgari will insert a laser-guided cannula or suctioning device on the area beneath the top layers of the skin called the subcutaneous area. This is where the fat cells are deposited. He will then move the laser instrument back and forth to reach all the fat deposits that need to be melted. Once the fat is converted into a liquefied form, it will be suctioned out from the chest. This process also promotes the release of collagen, which makes the skin of the treated area tighter.
Because Dr. Tirgari combines the use of tumescent lipo, laser lipo, and SmartLipo, you will achieve great results within an hour or so. You are then able to go home and recover for just a few days. Then you move on with your life, loving your results.
After your procedure at our facility, you will be given some recovery time, after which you are free to leave the clinic as long as you feel good and you have a ride. You will head out with post-operative instructions as well as pain medications, should you need them. Follow-up care will also be scheduled by Dr. Tirgari who will see you to make sure that the incisions are healing normally, and the desired results were obtained.
You will fully recover within just a few days. However, you will be advised not to exercise or perform any vigorous physical activities for a few weeks. In some cases, Dr. Tirgari will administer surgical garments to aid in the healing process and help you achieve the skin tightening effects of the procedure faster.
