Serving San Diego, Oceanside, Carlsbad, & Nearby Areas of Southern California
If you experienced a sudden weight gain or have always struggled with fat deposits affecting specific areas of the body, then the best way to get rid of the extra pounds will be to start exercising and having a balanced diet. However, there are some of us who are genetically predisposed to storing fat in some parts of our body. Since it’s genetics, no amount of dieting and working out at the gym will help us get rid of the unwanted fat on these areas.
For this reason, Avalon Lipo & Aesthetics is offering its most advanced liposuction procedure: tumescent liposuction.
Tumescent liposuction is the use of a local anesthesia called lidocaine for performing the liposuction procedure. It is currently the most performed technique in the US for the following reasons:
- It provides adequate numbness on the target area.
- It has less downtime as compared to undergoing general anesthesia
- Possible complications after surgery are minimized
- Recovery period is around two to three days after having surgery
Tumescent liposuction allows you to remain awake during surgery yet feel no discomfort. It also aids in healing and eliminates any complications associated with general anesthesia, including severe digestive problems. Please read the paragraphs below to gain a deeper understanding of tumescent liposuction. For more information about this advanced fat removal procedure, you can also call Avalon Lipo & Aesthetics at 619-494-3678 today.
The Tumecent Liposuction Procedure
The only discomfort that you may experience during the procedure is when a thin needle is used for anesthesia administration. It is inserted on the subcutaneous or fatty layer of the skin and feels just like a small injection you may receive at the dentist’s office or during immunization. The anesthesia makes the area totally numb in less than a minute. It also helps slightly separate the fat layer from the muscle layer. If you are nervous, we can give you an oral sedative to help you relax.
Once the anesthesia has fully taken effect on the target areas, Dr. Tirgari will make small incisions and insert the laser liposuction device to melt the fat cells. This is done by inserting and pulling the liposuction device until all fatty areas are broken up. Once this step is done, a small cannula is used to suction the fat out of the body. The remaining fat is processed through the liver after liposuction.
At Avalon Lipo & Aesthetics, we combine the laser liposuction device, known as Smart Lipo surgery, with the tumescent technique, allowing us to treat our patients safely and with minimal discomfort or prolonged recovery, all while delivering excellent body slimming and skin tightening results.
Post-Operative Results and Recovery
As mentioned above, our advanced liposuction surgery techniques allow you to recover quickly with minimal discomfort. Of course, each patient is different and results as well as recovery time will vary. However, in general, most of our patients are able to fully recover and return to their normal activities within jut a few days compared to several weeks and months after traditional liposuction surgery.
Once you surgery is completed at our accredited medical facility in San Diego or Carlsbad, you will be able to go home as soon as you feel well enough. As you head home, you will be given all of the necessary post-operative care instructions and information as well as a schedule for your follow up visits with Dr. Tirgari.
